Zydus Cadila to supply 1 crore dose of COVID vaccine

The Centre has placed an order for one crore doses of Zydus Cadila’s 3-dose ZyCoV-D for inclusion in the COVID vaccination programme, an announcement by the company said.
The vaccine was earlier cleared by the country’s drug regulatory authority on August 20, 2021.
ZyCoV-D is the world’s first DNA based vaccine against COVID-19, and does not require normal syringes for administration.
The vaccine needs to be administered in three doses and does not require needle for administration in a 28 day interval. The available data suggests that the vaccine has an efficacy of 66.6%.
ZyCoV-D is the country’s second indigenous vaccine to have received approval for emergency use.
