NEW DELHI: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has welcomed the Central government’s decision to set up a National Medical Devices Promotion Council to boost the medical devices industry in India.

Under the aegis of the Department of Industrial Promotion and Policy (DIPP), the Council will anchor, stabilize and fuel the growth of the medtech industry in India."

CII Medical Technology Division Chairman Himanshu Baid said,“The council will facilitate and promote this important and fast-growing sector and pave the way for affordable access to good-quality medical devices for Indian population.”

Baid, who is MD of Polymedicure Ltd, stated, “We are very optimistic that this council will provide anchorage and an environment for conducive growth for this very important sector. We are looking forward to seeing a strong Indian presence in the global medtech map in the next few years.”
