After getting encouraging results from plasma therapy conducted on 29 patients, the Delhi government will now use plasma therapy on 200 more patients to save their lives.

“Center has permitted conducting of plasma trials on 200 more patients. In government hospital, the plasma trials will be used in LNJP and Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital and in many private hospitals. Plasma therapy is not effective on seriously ill patients who suffer from multi-organ failure,” said Kejriwal in a digital presser.

“Those who are affected with Covid and whose condition is not much deteriorated, plasma prevents the further deterioration. We hope with plasma therapy we can succeed to prevent deaths. The results of this plasma therapy shows that lives can be saved,” he added.

“It has been observed that many people whose oxygen level goes below 95 and even goes below 85 don’t show Covid symptoms but after their condition gets worse suddenly, they die. To tackle this, we have provided oxygen pulse meters to all those who are home quarantined to check their oxygen level. Such patients can inform Govt. and they will be taken to hospital,” explained Kejriwal.

On prevailing situation in the capital, the Delhi CM exuded hope that despite there being increase in virus cases the Covid situation is under control in Delhi, emphasizing that the cases of the virus have surged because of increased testing. He added, “Earlier Covid cases used to be reported 2000-2500 per day when we used to conduct 5000 to 6000 tests per day. Now when we are conducting 18000 tests per day, 3000-3500 cases are reported.”

He informed that most of the positive cases of the virus are having mild symptoms. There is no need to worry. The situation in Delhi is under control. Most of the new patients do not need hospitalization,” he assured Delhities.

“As on date, we have arranged 13500 Covid beds in hospitals. 6000 out of 13500 are occupied while 7500 are vacant. These 6000 beds have been occupied for the last one week,” he added.

“If required, there would be need of ICU beds in future on which we are working. We are increasing  more ICU beds in LNJP, GTB and Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital to treat serious patients,” said Kejriwal.
