Delhi-government run mega hospital-Lok Nayak Jai Prakash -- has successfully treated 10145 patients, becoming the first hospital in the country to treat the this number of Covid patients.

According to data provided by the hospital, 15113 Covid patients have been admitted to hospital. 10145 patients have recovered and have been discharged. 524 deliveries have been successfully carried out in Covid positive mothers. Dialysis of 1913 Covid positive patients has been conducted in the hospital.  

It may be recalled that this hospital was in the news during the initial days of the lockdown when visuals on TV channels showed bodies of Covid dead piling up in mortuaries and even lying under beds in wards of the hospital. This created a kind of panic in people and they avoided going to this hospital.

However, the hospital gradually improved its infrastructure and joint efforts by Center and Delhi governments brought the situation under control.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain tweeted, “Congratulations to the team of LNJP hospital for successfully treating over 10000 Covid patients. This is the highest number of people to whom any Indian hospital has been able to provide services. Kudos to the team and staff. We are eternally grateful for their services.”

Speaking to the media, Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical Director, LNJP, complimented doctors for the continuous 16-17 hour work to serve the patients during the pandemic. “It is the contribution of each and every healthcare worker of our hospital that we have managed to treat over 10000 patients successfully,” added Dr Kumar.
