Director of Delhi's Agarsain hospital held for attempt to rape

DELHI: The accused promised admission in Nursing Diploma to the 19-year-old girl and then attempted to rape her, as per the complaint.

The medical director of Maharaja Agarsain Hospital & Research Centre, Narela, has been arrested under section 341/354/354A of the IPC on October 7, 2017, for allegedly attempting to rape a 19 year old girl student.

The victim was reportedly getting coaching in nursing from the accused at his residence.

The victim's family lodged a complaint with the Narela Police Station alleging that the director, Dr Mohmmad Iqbal Shah who hails from Kashmir, had promised to get her admission in Maharaja Agarsain College in Nursing Diploma.

As per reports, the accused told the girl that he would break all rules to get her the admission in Nursing and attempted to have physical relations with her. The girl resisted, went home, and told her family of what had happened.

The girl's family members went to the hospital and attacked the accused doctor with shoes and sticks. They kept hitting him until the police rescued him.

The family accused Dr Shah of sexually exploiting the student and that the accused was forcing the victim to make physical relations with him. When the girl protested, the accused allegedly threatened her with dire consequences.

Medical examination of the victim was carried out and further investigation into the matter is being conducted.
