The Delhi government plans to massively expand the dental care infrastructure in the government sector.

To boost dental care in the national capital, the Delhi government will open five dental centers on the lines of Mauluna Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS). This has been informed by Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain. The minister did not mention the time frame or deadline for opening these centers.

Jain informed that the Delhi government has also planned to set up 100 Mohalla Dental Clinics in the next one year. He pointed out there is an urgent need to create centers for primary dental care and MAIDS like centers will be for referral and tertiary services.

The minister said that the government has planned to set up a dental clinic at East Delhi's Kanti Nagar polyclinic.

The minister urged people to check their teeth twice a year to maintain them for longer.

The government has made Dr Mahesh Verma, Director and Principal, MAIDS, the nodal officer for monitoring the progress of 100 Mohalla Dental Clinics.
