LNJP-Delhi nurses on flash strike after 2 colleagues assaulted

NEW DELHI: Two nursing officers at Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital, Delhi, were allegedly assaulted on March 10, 2018, by a patient’s relatives following which nurses at the premier hospital went on an emergency strike demanding adequate security measures.

The nurses alleged that those accompanying the patients to the neuro surgery emergency of the hospital created a ruckus before beating up the two nurses, who were on duty, and then fled the hospital campus.

In a letter to the medical director, Delhi State Hospital Nurses Union president Mrs Thankamma Joy said, “This is to inform you that nursing officers Mr Sandeep Patel and Mr Pawan of Neuro Surgery Emergency were beaten by a patient’s relatives.”

The letter further said, “So hereby we are declaring emergency strike on March 10, 2018, from 3 pm onward till proper, definite action takes place.”

Mrs Joy warned the authorities that if their demands are not met by tonight the nurses will shut down all emergency services of the hospital from March 11, 2018.
