 BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI: Most of the 36 Delhi government-run hospitals have been made air-conditioned, as per Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain.

Patients undergoing treatment at the Acharya Shri Bhikshu Hospital in Delhi's Moti Bagh area can now recover better with the installation of centralized air-conditioner for all wards and service areas.

Delhi health minister Satyendar Jain inaugurated the facility as part of the hospital's revamp.

Earlier, the lack of proper infrastructure along with insensitivity towards poor patients at this health facility in the city was a cause of concern. The shortage of staff and medicines also plagued the hospital.

The lack of even basic facilities was visible from the unkempt patients’ wards and unusable washrooms in the hospital.

But all of sudden last week the hospital bagged the Kayakalp award under the Swachhta Abhiyan at a ceremony organised to award government hospitals. Union health minister JP Nadda gave away the award to Acharya Shri Bhikshu Hospital.

Jain told media-persons that as part of a major infrastructure revamp, all Delhi government hospitals would be made air-conditioned.

He said, “There are 36 hospitals running under the Delhi government and most of these hospitals were made air-conditioned.”
