East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) Mayor Bipin Bihari Singh has said that EDMC is ensuring that all preventive steps are taken such as provision of better healthcare facilities, availability of all medicines and doctors and spreading awareness in all areas to fight vector-borne diseases ahead of the rainy season.

The Mayor told DTMT that he will personally inspect all the EDMC-run health facilities to check what are the loopholes and to tackle these loopholes.

“The season for vector-borne diseases is approaching. To address this, I will visit all EDMC-run hospitals to check that there should no shortage of doctors, nurses and medicines,” informed the Mayor.

The Mayor added that he will ensure that proper hygiene is maintained in these health facilities so that no patient should suffer.

“I will also take the help of Manoj Tiwari, BJP Delhi In-Charge and North-East Delhi MP, who has managed to set up two ventilators at Swami Dayanand Hospital, Shahdara through his local MP fund,” added the Mayor.

The Mayor said that from the next week, EDMC is starting an awareness program about dengue, malaria and chikunguniya in schools, hospitals and with several Resident Welfare Associations in each municipal ward.

On taking over of North Delhi’s Hindu Rao Hospital by the Central government, the Mayor said that at present EDMC has no plan of giving Swami Dayanand Hospital to the Central government.

On non-payment of doctors’ salary in East Delhi, the Mayor said that EDMC lacks fund to pay salary to the doctors and other employees.

He alleged that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is playing politics over the issue and not giving fund to the EDMC.
