 BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI: Pharmacists employed in various Delhi government health facilities will go on strike on May 21, 2018. The strike is to press for their demands, including cadre formation better than Uttarakhand state, or as per guidelines of the Pharmacy Council of India, and initial grade pay Rs 4800.

The pharmacists have warned that if their demands are not met, the strike will continue for an indefinite period.

A union leader, who did not wish to be identified, said that authorities did not fulfill their demands despite many assurances in the past. He further said that Delhi government formed committees several times but never implemented the recommendations.

A memorandum will be handed over to Delhi health ministry by the protesters seeking implementation their demands.

They allege that no promotions of pharmacists were take place in Delhi and they join as a pharmacist and retire as a pharmacist.

They cited various reasons for the proposed strike such as no promotion and low salaries as compared to qualification and work load.

Despite their having won a cadre formation case in Delhi in 2013, Delhi government has still not implemented the court order, say the pharmacists.

The pharmacists also demanded that their issues pending for the last 30 years with the Government need to be solved immediately.
