NEW DELHI: Dr Ashok Kumar Rana, Additional Director, Delhi Government Employees Health Scheme, has been appointed as the new Director General of Health Services, Delhi Government, on February 13, 2019. He will take over from Dr Nutan Mundeja who has been transferred.
Dr Rana has long experience in health services and is well-known for his contribution in implementation of free OPD and IPD services for poor patients in private hospitals.
With an MBBS degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi, Dr Rana worked as MS (Nursing Homes), Director Health Services, Medical Superintendent of various Delhi Government hospitals including Guru Govind Singh Government Hospital, Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital and Babu Jagjiwan Ram Memorial Hospital, Delhi.
As the DG, Dr Rana aims to strike equilibrium between health services in both the Government and private sectors, which, he says, witnesses a lot of disparities.
