The District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Faridabad has ordered the schools in the district to remain closed till November 17, 2021, in the wake of the pollution situation in Delhi-NCR.
An order signed by the Chairman DDMA, Faridabad has asked all the private and government schools in the district to remain closed.
This is done with the aim of reducing the plying of the vehicles by 30% on the roads, which will reduce emissions and dust pollution, the order reads.
Other steps like the complete ban of all construction activities, no manual sweeping of the roads, burning of trashes by the municipalities and prohibition of burning stubbles are to be initiated.
The government has asked the Incident Commanders to enforce the directive in their areas of jurisdiction and take action as per law, the directive read.
These directives will come into effect immediately and remain in force till November 17, 2021
The incident commanders shall ensure wide publicity using beating of drums in their areas of jurisdiction, the directive further noted.
The air quality index at 2 p.m. in Faridabad was 316, while it was 356 at the Vikas Sadan monitoring station in Gurugram, both remaining in the very poor category as per the data provided by the Central Pollution Control Board.
