Omicron is not a common cold: Dr Paul

DTMT Network

The Union Health Ministry has reiterated that the Omicron variant of COVID should not be taken lightly. The ministry  stressed that masks and vaccination remain the pivotal weapons against COVID, which has killed 4,84,655 people as on January 12, 2022.

“Omicron is not a common cold and it is our responsibility to slow it down by masking ourselves and getting vaccinated, whoever is due. It is a fact the vaccines are helpful in preventing severe disease. Vaccination is a critical part of our COVID response,” Dr VK Paul, Niti Aayog Member (Health).

On the over and irrational use of medicines in home isolation, Dr Paul said that there should be a rational approach for medicine use.

“We are concerned about the overuse and misuse of drugs. Don’t over use it. It will have an aftermath. Have warm water and do gargles in home care,” he added.
