Dadhichi to organise a mega-conference on organ donation on September 3

As a part of its silver jubilee celebration, Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti, an NGO, working in the field of organ and body donation will organise a campaign in Delhi to spread awareness about body, organ and eye donation in the county.

The campaign will start with a day-long conclave scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 3, 2022, at NDMC Convention Centre and will conclude with a conference at Dr Ambedkar International Centre on September 4, 2022, the officials said.

Addressing the media in Delhi, Mr Alok Kumar, Patron of Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti informed that more than sixty NGOs and important stakeholders and associations in the healthcare sector, including Mohan Foundation, Organ India Indian Medical Association, NOTTO, ORBO, National Eye Bank, Amma Eye-Organ-Body Donation Promoters Organisation, and the Federation of Organ and Body Donation will participate in the conference.

"Formed in 1997, Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti has been the torch-bearer in spreading awareness on Body-organ donations. Our primary aim is to make people realise how the donated body/organs of a deceased/donor can be life-saving for persons in dire need. Over 300 volunteers of our Samiti take each step with the utmost delicacy and ensure a smooth process of donation without any hassles to the donor family” he added.

"India is far behind other developing countries in terms of organ donation despite having one of the largest populations. Major reasons behind this can be the lack of public awareness, religious taboos, complicated laws and apathetic government structure. It is our firm belief that through this campaign, we will achieve our target to encourage more and more people towards body-organ-eye donation, Noted President of Dachichi Deh Dan Samiti Harsh Malhotra.
