UK records another 30,597 COVID-19 cases, 201 fatalities

In Britain, another 30,597 people have tested positive for the coronavirus, pushing the total number of COVID-19 infections to 7,312,683 in the country, according to official figures released on September 15, 2021.
The nation also witnessed another 201 COVID-related fatalities, taking the overall death toll to 1,34,647 in Britain.
These numbers only include the people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.
The British government on September 14, 2021 released a COVID-19 Autumn and Winter Plan, drafting the possible measures and curbs the country may see towards the end of 2021.
As per the plan revealed by British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, there is “significant uncertainty” about what will happen later this year and there is a “plausible” risk of infections surging to an extent that would place the National Health Service (NHS) under “unsustainable pressure”.
The government’s Plan A includes a booster jabs campaign that will begin next week, and guidance that people meet outdoors or open windows if inside.
“Plan B” could consist of vaccine passports, mandatory masks, and working from home guidance.
Prime Minister said that “Plan B” would aim to prevent the NHS from being overwhelmed.
The overall number of people in hospitals with COVID-19 in the nation currently stands at 8,340. It has been more than 8,000 for eight of the past nine days.
More than 89% of people aged 16 and above in Britain have had their first shot of vaccine and more than 81% have received both the shots, the latest figures revealed.
To bring life back to normal, nations such as Britain, China, Germany, Russia, and the United States have been racing against time to roll out the COVID-19 vaccines.
