Covid 19: Pregnant women to be vaccinated in S.Korea

South Korea intends to vaccinate pregnant women starting October 18, 2021, in a bid to achieve an immunization level of 80 per cent in adults by the end of October, as per reports.
The country has so far reported a total of 323,379 confirmed cases and 2,536 deaths.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), pregnant women can register for vaccination using Moderna or Pfizer vaccines from October 8, 2021.
Addressing a public briefing recently, KDCA director Jeong Eun-kyeong said that the vaccines are safe for pregnant women.
Kyeong added that the vaccines can meaningfully decrease their risks of contracting COVID-19 and becoming critically ill.
However, doctors have advised that pregnant women in their first trimester (under 12 weeks) should consult healthcare providers before getting vaccinated.
As on October 6,2021, about 63 per cent of adults and around 54.5 per cent of the country's population have been fully vaccinated.
