The Canadian government announced a coronavirus vaccination mandate for federal employees and travellers aged 12 and older.

All federal employees in the core public administration must be fully inoculated by October 29, as per the announcement made on October 6, 2021.

The announcement added that people who are not double vaccinated or do not disclose their inoculation status by that date will be placed on administrative leave without pay.

All the travelers who are 12 years old and above must be fully vaccinated by the end of October to board planes, trains, or marine vessels in Canada, the government said.

According to senior officials, around 88% of eligible Canadians have been administered one dose of coronavirus vaccine and about 82% of eligible Canadians are double vaccinated.

As of October 6 noon, Canada witnessed 1,007 new infections of COVID-19, taking the cumulative total to 1,644,481, including 28,068 fatalities, data from Canadian media outlets showed.
