North Korea reports 1.2 million 'fever' cases

The total number of people affected with ‘fever’ in North Korea has reached over 1.2 million the state media KCNA reported.

Quoting from the state emergency epidemic prevention headquarters, the North Korean media said on May 16, 2022, that 392,920 new cases were reported across the country in the preceding 24 hours.

The death toll from the current epidemic has reached 50.

Meanwhile, South Korean President Yoon Suk-Yeol said on May 16, 2022, that his country is ready to help its northern neighbour.

“If North Korea responds (to our support), we will spare no medicines including COVID-19 vaccines, medical equipment and health personnel,” the president said while addressing the South Korean Parliament.
