An advisory panel of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States endorsed booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus vaccine for Americans aged 65 and above and some adults with certain high-risk conditions.

To recommend a booster shot for Americans aged 65 years and above and adults in long-term care facilities, the panel voted 15-0.

Not just this but it also completely recommended giving a single booster shot to Americans between the ages of 50 and 64 with certain high-risk conditions, by a vote tally of 13-2.

On September 22, 2021, the Food and Drug Administration gave a nod to Pfizer booster doses for people aged 65 years and above or at high risk.

The extra dose would be administered once they are at least six months past their last Pfizer dose.

The Director of CDC, Rochelle Walensky is expected to accept the panel’s recommendation soon.
