Over hundred resident doctors at Lady Hardinge Medical College (LHMC), Delhi, have tested positive for COVID19 so far.
Dr Sunil Duchania, President, RDA, LHMC, told DTMT that over 100 resident doctors have tested positive for COVID19.
“This has resulted in a lack of manpower and doctors have become overburdened. These doctors have further chances of getting exposed,” he added.
“Resident doctors are working as front line workers. They are getting exposed everyday. Many resident doctors have tested positive for COVID, resulting in lack of manpower in hospitals to handle the burden of patients,” Dr Sunil said.
“There is no quarantine facility even after getting exposed to a positive patient. We have written to the concerned authorities for getting risk hazard allowance as per R1H3 cell of risk and hardship of seventh pay commission,” he added.
Not only LHMC but resident doctors are also testing positive for COVID19 in other hospitals.
Around 10 resident doctors have tested positive for the infection at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, East Delhi, a senior resident doctor informed.
