Dr Suresh Kumar, Medical-Director, Lok Nayak Hospital, Delhi, said that 15%-20% of total COVID patients have been diagnosed with Delta variant while the hospital admissions have increased sharply in the past few days.

Speaking to the media on January 13, 2022, Dr Kumar said that the number of hospitalizations has increased from 10-15 to 35-40 per day.

“So far we have received 188 Omicron cases from airports in the last 5 weeks. Omicron is observed in the majority of patients, only 15-20% is diagnosed with the Delta variant,” he added.

On January 13, 2022, Delhi recorded 27561 COVID cases and 40 deaths in the past 24 hours.
