Delhi: GB Pant hospital finally gets MRI machine

Delhi’s GB Pant hospital, which remained in the news for it's non-functional MRI machine since February 2016, has finally got 3T MRI machine on November 14, 2019. The machine, which costs around Rs 16 crore, was launched by Delhi health minister Satyendra Jain.
“Radiology department is starting a new 3T MRI machine with latest state of the art technology, at a cost of approximately Rs 16 crore,” reads a statement issued by Dr Sunil Kumar Puri, Director-Professor, GB Pant Hospital.
“The machine will have all the latest capabilities available in the best high end MRI machines. With the addition of this new facility, we would now be able to perform cardiac MR examinations in addition to all routine and advanced examinations including functional imaging for patients suffering from diseases pertaining to neurology, chest and gastroenterology,” said Dr Puri.
“The addition of this facility would go a long way in providing state of the art diagnostic services, free of cost to the needy patients,” he said.
Non-functional MRI machine at GB Pant hospital had become a cause of concern as many referred patients had to get MRI test from private clinics at expensive rates.
The hospital has footfall of 3000 patients in OPDs.
