Dr KK Deepak, HOD, Department of Physiology and Chairperson of the organizing committee of the conference said that Academy of Neurosciences is the most prestigious academy of India which has eminent scientists from within India and abroad.

“Ever since its inception, the academy has been active in promoting neurosciences and has been holding its annual meetings at different centers of excellence in neuroscience research,” he said.

Dr Deepak said that the theme of the IAN-2019 is “Neuron to Behaviour” wherein the underlying neuralmechanisms implicated for behavior and how they change during pathological conditions will be deliberated.

“This will be explored through sessions targeting cutting edge behavioral, anatomical, neuroimaging and optokinetic techniques by prominent neuroscientists and budding researchers,” he said.

The conference includes preconference workshops on quantitative EEG to assess cognition and pain assessment methods.

The conference includes a series of 6 plenary lectures 14 symposia, 6 invited lectures by eminent scientists deliberating on varying aspects of neurobiology.

There will be six sessions of oral presentations and around 170 poster presentations are planned. A panel discussion has been scheduled to discuss the challenges faced by neuroscientists and opportunities for funding available to them.
