India issues advisory for travel to China

The Indian government on Friday asked residents to avoid travelling to China amid corona virus outbreak that has claimed one life so far.

The advisory issued by Indian Health Ministry stated that an infection with a novel corona virus has been reported from China. Around 41 confirmed cases have been reported so far of which one has died.

It further stated that the clinical signs and symptoms are mainly fever with a few patients having difficulty in breathing.

“The mode of transmission is unclear as of now. However, so far there is little evidence of significant human-to-human transmission,” it said.

The advisory suggested the travellers to China should follow simple public health measures including good personal hygiene, frequent hand washing with soap, follow respiratory etiquette- cover your mouth when coughing or sneezing etc.

It also requested travellers to monitor their health closely if they feel sick and have fever and cough, while travelling back to India, feel sick on flight or at the time of disembarkation or feel sick within a span of one month after return from China.
