Forda to focus on central law, risk hazard allowance: Dr Barman

The newly elected president of Forda-India, Dr Shivaji Dev Barman, has told DTMT that Forda will strongly demand formation of Central Protection Act for doctors that was not presented during Parliament’s winter session in 2019.

It is learned that the bill to frame the central act on doctors’ security in hospitals was rejected by the Ministry of Home Affairs as it focuses on a specific profession.

"The second issue we will demand is risk hazard allowance. Risk hazard allowance should be paid to doctors as they are first contact persons to the patients," said Dr Shivaji. He added that Forda-India will also raise the issues of unregulated working hours, mental health issues and discrepancies and NEET PG and SS exams.

The new team includes Dr Shivaji Dev Barman, President, Dr Ashu Meena, Vice President, Sandeep Yadav-Vice President, Dr Asgar Ali-Coordinator of North West Zone and Dr Palak as Joint secretary.

Dr Barman, President, Forda-India, is presently serving in the Department of Community Medicine of Lady Hardinge Medical College.
