The Delhi government has made it mandatory for people to wear masks when stepping outdoors. This has been done to check the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said, “We have made it mandatory for people stepping out of their house to wear masks or cloth on their face from Thursday.”

“Wearing the masks can reduce the spread of coronavirus substantially," he added.

Meanwhile, the government has sealed 20 hotspots in the city from midnight on Wednesday. These hotspots include Markaz Masjid and Nizamuddin Basti, Dwarka's Shahajahanabad society, parts of Mayur Vihar, Patparganj, Malviya Nagar, Sangam Vihar, Seemapuri, Vasundhara Enclave and Dilshad Garden.

Earlier, the government had sealed GTB Enclave in East Delhi, part of Nizamuddin, Maharaja Agarsen Hospital locality and Bengali market near Mandi House after local residents tested positive for coronavirus.
