As many personnel of the Delhi police have tested Covid positive and one constable has succumbed to the virus recently, Delhi police is now distributing paper jackets in Matia Mahal area of Jama Masjid, Delhi, with ‘Do-gaz-ki-doori’ emblazoned on them.

Police personnel urge people in the area, which remains crowded, to wear the jacket. Matia Mahal falls under Delhi-6 which has congested streets and markets due to which maintaining social distance is a huge challenge.

And when the government has restricted the timing of opening of shops to 7 am to 7 pm, people have started thronging to the markets in more numbers, which poses great risk of spreading the virus which has infected more than 15,000 and killed over 300 in the national capital.

Police personnel remain vigilant in the area to ensure that not too much crowd gathers in the area. They also ensure that people maintain enough distance from each other to prevent the spread of the virus as around 400 Delhi police personnel have tested Covid positive so far in Delhi.

It may be noted that DCP North-Delhi Monika Bhardwaj tested Covid positive on May 27, 2020. She had slight fever for two days and she got tested on May 26, 2020. On May 27, 2020, her report came confirming her Covid positive status.
