DGFT allows export of alcohol-based sanitisers sans pump

 BS RAWAT
In a rollback of curbs imposed in March, India's Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has allowed export of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, keeping only those in containers with dispenser pump under the ban during the covid-19 pandemic.

“Alcohol-based hand sanitizers exported in containers with dispenser pump falling under ITCHS Code are prohibited for export,” the DGFT said in a notification.

Earlier, the government on May 6 had prohibited the export of all alcohol-based hand sanitizers.

“Alcohol-based hand sanitizers exported in any other form or packaging are free for exports, with immediate effect,” the notification reads

On March 24, India had prohibited the export of all sanitisers as well as soaps, washing and cleaning preparations to ensure adequate supply of the products in the country.

The country had also banned the export of ventilators, artificial respiratory apparatus, oxygen therapy apparatus, and any other breathing appliance due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
