Delhi Govt. sets up second Covid-19 advisory panel

To battle the rising number of COVID-19 cases, a five-member committee led by Dr Mahesh Verma, Vice-Chancellor of IP University, has been constituted by the Delhi government for healthcare infrastructure augmentation and strengthening overall preparedness of hospitals.
Members of the committee include Dr Sunil Kumar, Medical Director of GTB Hospital; Dr Arun Gupta, president of Delhi Medical Council; Dr R K Gupta, former president of Delhi Medical Association; and Dr Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director, Max Hospital.
The order, signed by special health secretary SM Ali, said, “The committee will guide the Delhi government on healthcare infrastructure augmentation and strengthen overall preparedness of hospitals to battle COVID-19.”
The committee will also guide the government on any other area where strengthening of infrastructure is required to better manage the pandemic in Delhi.
The new committee has been directed to submit its report by June 6, the order advises.
In March, Dr S K Sarin, head of the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, was made the head of the first five-member committee to oversee the Covid-19 crisis in the national capital.
