Jharkhand: Action if hospitals deny treatment under PM-JAY

Action would be initiated against Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) empanelled private hospitals designated as Covid and non-Covid facilities if they deny treatment or essential care to beneficiaries, the Jharkhand health ministry has said.
The warning was issued after the ministry reviewed representations from PM-JAY beneficiaries regarding difficulties they were facing in availing treatment at private hospitals empanelled under the scheme.
“It is directed that all the PM-JAY empanelled hospitals, shall not deny treatment facilities or admission to PM-JAY beneficiaries for all treatments including ICU and neurology treatment,” the order reads.
The government has warned that non-compliance would be viewed seriously and action as per provisions of law, including heavy penalty on defaulting hospitals, would be initiated without further notice.
