Despite more than seven lakh corona cases and nearly twenty five thousand cases per day, the Indian Health Ministry has said that there is still no community transmission in India.

Addressing the media on India’s Covid situation, Mr Rajesh Bhushan, Officer on Special Duty, Union Health Ministry, has said that India has not reached the stage of community transmission. In our country, we have geographical areas where localized outbreaks have occurred, he added.

Mr Bhushan further pointed out, “We should not forget in our country we have 49 districts which account for 80% of Covid cases. In a country of more than 733 districts, out of which 49 districts represent 80% cases, discussing community transmission is not justified.”

“We also believe that where there are active cases of Covid, we can trace and track close contacts within three days. So, in a condition where we can trace and track the close contacts of Covid within three days, talking of community transmission is not justified,” said Mr Bhushan.
