Govt. relaxes NEET PG cut-off as seats go vacant

 BS RAWAT

In an attempt to address the large number of vacant seats in Post Graduate medical courses, the Union health ministry has approved relaxing of the eligibility cut off for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for post graduation (NEET PG) for 2020.

With this, the qualifying marks for general candidates has been reduced to 30th percentile, for SC/ST/POBC to 20th percentile, for PwD (General) to 25th percentile and for PwD (SC/ST/OBC) candidates has been brought down to 20th percentile.

In this regard, DTMT has reviewed the letter from Amit Biswas, under secretary in the Union Health Ministry, to the Board of Governors (Medical Council of India).

In the letter, Mr Biswas states, “I am directed ----to say that BoG-MCI’s recommendation for reduction in qualifying percentile for Post Graduate Courses for 2020 (NEET-PG 2020) has been considered in the Ministry.”

“Approval of Competent Authority is hereby conveyed for reduction of cut-off marks for NEET-PG 2020,” he says.
