Another patient commits suicide in Delhi-AIIMS

A patient, 32, who came for treatment from Madhya Pradesh’s Satna district, was found hanging in a bathroom of Delhi-AIIMS’ Trauma Center on July 16, 2020.


This is the third suicide within 10 days in India’s premier medical institute.

According to Delhi police, on inspection, a ligature mark over anterior aspect of neck was found on the deceased. On enquiry, it has come to knowledge that the deceased underwent intestinal surgery at AIIMS Hospital in July 2019. On July 15, 2020, he came for further treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre.

The deceased went missing from the admission area during his admission period. Thereafter, he was found hanging with the plastic pipe used with glucose bottles, in the bathroom at Yellow Zone, AIIMS Trauma Center.

The deceased was taken to emergency area where doctor declared him brought dead. The body has been preserved and proceedings U/s 174 Cr.P.C is being conducted. No suicide note has been found so far and as per the statement and enquiry conducted, matter is under investigation.
