The Rajasthan government has relaxed the stringent protocol and is allowing patients to keep their smartphones with them in isolation wards of Covid-19 hospitals.

The move came after several patients repeatedly requested the officials to allow them cellphones, mostly to keep themselves engaged and entertained.

In an order, Director-Rajasthan Health Services, said, “To facilitate the communication between COVID-19 patients admitted in wards, with their family members, or friends, ensure that mobile phones while adhering to infection prevention norms, are kept with the director of the COVID care centre."

The order also directed all hospitals to install CCTV cameras in every COVID-19 ward for proper monitoring by the administration and medical teams.
