According to Union Health Ministry data in the morning on August 5, 2020, cases of corona virus surged by 52509 in the past 24 hours in India, taking the total number of virus cases to 1908255.

As per the data, 857 people have died of the virus in the past 24 hours. The total number of virus fatalities now stands at 39795.

586244 out of the 1908255 are active cases of the virus while 1282216 have recovered from the disease.
