A police assistant sub inspector late night on Sunday was accused of hurling abuses and beating up a doctor going to emergency duty at Jhunjhunu district hospital, Rajasthan.

ASI Satya Prakash was suspended by Jagadish Chand Sharma, Police Commissioner, Jhunjhunu, after an FIR was filed against him and an agitation was threatened by the Rajasthan Service Doctors Association, Jhunjhunu.

According to the FIR, ASI Prakash thrashed Dr Ramswarup Payal, a surgery specialist, after his bike hit the doctor’s car at Road No. 2 Crossing at 9 pm.

Dr Payal with BDK district hospital was driving to hospital for attending an emergency duty when the ASI banged the bike into his car, the FIR said.

After a call to the Police Control Room, a police vehicle came to the spot in which three men, one in civil dress, got out of their vehicle, put the  doctor into the vehicle and badly thrashed him. The doctor was let off after the intervention of onlookers and locals, Dr Payal said in the FIR.
