Covid-19: Nainital admin takes over 6 pvt hospitals

To ensure availability of medical infrastructure and treatment to novel coronavirus positive patients, the Nainital district administration has announced that it has taken over six private hospitals having 25 beds in the district for treatment of Covid-19 patients.

The hospitals identified by the administration include, Brijlal Hospital, Krishna Hospital, Neelkanth Hospital, Vivekanand Hospital, Sai Hospital and Central Hospital. All of them are in the Haldwani area.

Nainital CMO Dr Bhagirathi Joshi said private hospitals would charge maximum rates as fixed by the Uttarakhand Government for the treatment.

The CMO warned private hospitals against overcharging and said she will not desist from taking strong action against them if they do not fall in line.

An order from the district magistrate’s office also said that in case any of the doctors, medical staff or management officials are found to be behaving irresponsibly in the private hospitals, they will be booked under provisions of the Disaster Management Act, Clinical Establishments (Registration and Regulation) Act, Medical Council Act as well as other relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
