Delhi records it's highest corona infections

Corona cases reached a record high of 5673 in the last 24 hours in Delhi, as per Delhi government data released on October 28, 2020. This is the highest number of cases reported in a day in the national capital since the beginning of the coronavirus epidemic.

As per the latest Delhi State Health Bulletin on Covid, 43287 rapid antigen and 17284 RT-PCR tests were conducted in the past 24 hours. The data suggests that Covid cases are rapidly spiking in Delhi and if the number of tests increase further, the numbers are likely to go up even more.

Experts have said that people not following Covid appropriate behavior, gathering of people in public places due to festivals, winters and air pollution are contributing factors behind the surge of disease numbers in the city.

As per the data, a positivity rate of 9.37% was recorded in the past 24 hours while cumulative positivity rate has reached 8.19%. 40 patients succumbed to the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths to 6396. The case fatality rate in Delhi is 1.73%.

As on date, 370014 people have tested Covid positive in Delhi so far. 334240 of them have recovered from the disease. Active cases are 29378.
