Delhi: Highest corona cases despite less testing

 Rohit Shishodia
Corona cases have continued to surge in Delhi with 5739 infections in the past 24 hours, as per Delhi Government data on October 29, 2020. This is the highest daily count reported so far in the city. However deaths due to the infection increase by only 27 in the past 24 hours, comparatively low when fatalities have been near or above 40 for the last one week or more.

It may be noted that cases continue to spike in the city despite a decrease in RT-PCR and Rapid Antigen Testing.  According to the Delhi Health Bulletin released on October 29, 2020, a total of 60124 tests were conducted in the past 24 hours and 5739 people tested positive for the virus.

60571 tests were conducted on October 28, 2020, (a day before) and cases found were 5673.

It is understood that cases will increase considering the winters that suit this infection, rise of pollutants in the air which impact lungs, thronging of people in markets and not practicing of Covid appropriate behavior.
