Corona spike continues in Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab...

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu continue to report spikes in daily cases of coronavirus. According to the Indian Health Ministry on March 6, 2021, these states cumulatively account for 82% of the new cases in India reported in the past 24 hours.

Maharashtra has reported the highest daily new cases at 10,216. It is followed by Kerala with 2,776 while Punjab reported 808 new cases.

The country reported 108 deaths in the past 24 hours. Six states -- Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu account for 85.2% of the new deaths. Maharashtra saw the maximum casualties (53). Kerala follows with 16 daily deaths and Punjab reported 11 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to the ministry, eighteen states and UTs including Gujarat, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Uttarakhand, Lakshadweep, Puducherry, Assam, Sikkim, Manipur, Ladakh (UT), Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, Nagaland, Mizoram, Andaman Nicobar Islands and Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli have not reported any death in the past 24 hours.
