Speaking to the media on August 6, 2021, in Delhi, Serum Institute of India (SII) CEO Adar Poonawalla informed that Covovax, another COVID vaccine manufactured by SII in India, will be launched for adults by October 2021.

“We are always trying to increase the capacity of vaccines. Government is supporting us. There is no financial crunch. We are thankful to Modia for support,” he added.
“At the time of launch of Covovax, everyone will get to know the cost of the vaccine. Vaccine for children will be available in the first quarter of 2022,” said Poonawalla.
