COVID vaccination resumes after 2-day halt in Mumbai

After a gap of two days, Mumbai resumed its vaccination process from August 21, 2021, informed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

In a statement issued by BMC, it stated that the vaccination was halted for two days due to the vaccine shortage.

The civic body said that it received a total stock of 1, 60, 240 COVID-19 vaccine doses on August 19, 2021 night which was distributed among all the government and municipal inoculation centres on August 20, 2021.

“With the receipt of vaccine doses, the COVID-19 vaccination campaign will resume in Mumbai from tomorrow, Saturday, August 21, 2021. The stock of vaccines received by the corporation includes 1, 50, 000 doses of Covishield and 10,240 doses of Covaxin,” it informed on August 20, 2021.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra witnessed 4,365 new COVID-19 infections, 6,384 recoveries, and 105 fatalities in the last 24 hours, the state health bulletin said on August 20, 2021.

As per the official figures, the total number of active cases stood at 55,454. With this, the total infections in the state have gone up to 64, 15, 935.
