India reports 44,658 new COVID cases, 50% have got at least first dose

India reported 44,658  new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the overall caseload to 3,26,03,188 in the country, the Indian Health Ministry informed on August 27, 2021.

The country’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 4, 36,861 after it witnessed 496 fatalities in the last 24 hours, according to the ministry.

As per the official figures, a total of 32,988 recoveries were recorded in the country taking the total recoveries to 3, 18, 21,428, while the recovery rate currently stands at 97.60%.

India’s active caseload stands at 3, 44,899 while the active cases account for 1.06% of the total cases.

The country’s daily positivity rate remains below 3% currently at 2.45% for the last 32 days, and the weekly positivity rate remains less than 3% for the last 63 days, currently stands at 2.33%.

Testing capacity has substantially ramped up as 51.49 crore samples have been tested so far.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 51, 49, 54,309 samples were tested up to August 26, out of which, 18, 24,931samples were tested yesterday.

The Health Ministry informed that so far 61, 22, 08,542 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive while 79, 48,439 doses were administered yesterday.

Meanwhile, India has set a new milestone with at least 50% of the eligible population being inoculated with the first dose of COVID vaccine, the Indian Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on August 26, 2021.

“India achieves unprecedented milestone! 50 per cent of the eligible population inoculated with the first dose of COVID19 vaccine. Keep it up India. Let us fight Corona,” Mansukh Tweeted.
