COVID-19: RT-PCR report mandatory to enter Mussoorie

DTMT Network

With the aim to prevent rise in the COVID-19 cases, Mussoorie administration has made RT-PCR report mandatory for visiting the hill station.

The administration has also fixed the number of tourists who can visit during the weekends.

Only 15,000 people can visit the queen of hills during weekends, Dehradun’s DM, Dr. Rajesh Kumar informed the media on September 2, 2021.

Dr. Kumar added that it is mandatory for the visitors to carry 72-hour prior RT PCR negative reports.

Explaining about COVID management in the district, Kumar said that a total of 700 ICU beds have been added after the second wave of COVID in the district.

“At present we have 879 ICU beds and 1400 oxygen concentrators. A total of 90% people above the age of 45 have been vaccinated against COVID while 83% people of 18-45 age groups have also been vaccinated,” Kumar added.

It may be noted that tourists’ spots including Kempty Falls in Mussoorie recently became hotspots where hundreds of people thronged after COVID restrictions were relaxed in Uttarakhand.

People have become complacent and they do not regularly follow COVID appropriate behavior. Experts have reiterated that such gatherings can spike COVID cases and invite a third wave.
