Experts emphasise digitisation of healthcare industry

Digitisation of the healthcare industry is the need of the hour as its potential to extend healthcare inclusion through teleconsultation, remote care, etc. is immense, feels experts as per media reports.
Nidhi Jain, founder and CEO, KareXpert, a digital startup health platform says “Current healthcare is very much doctor driven, but if we want to make more contributions from more stakeholders we need to bring digitisation to reduce the operational cost.”
India faces a unique problem, which is, while 70 per cent of healthcare facilities are available in urban areas, 70 per cent of its population lives in villages.
According to her, for better accessibility and operational efficiency digitisation is a must, as it will increase healthcare inclusion.
Pointing out that the adoption of digitisation in Indian healthcare has been extremely slow, she highlighted that it was the pandemic that has acted as the catalyst for the healthcare-based IT industry.
The current pandemic has brought to fore the fundamental weakness in the infrastructure both on the public as well as private healthcare facilities, and it is only through digitisation that these challenges can be addressed efficiently.
