Hyderabad: Swine flu deaths continue despite hot weather

Its official now! The deadly swine flu virus, which was hitherto known to be found only during winters, has now acquired resistance to the ongoing summer heat as well. This has come to the fore following the death of two people in Telangana state's capital Hyderabad.
The two patients, both women, succumbed to the deadly virus while undergoing treatment at city based Gandhi hospital. One was an 80 year old woman and the other a 24 year old woman. The 80 year old woman, a resident of Vaisaktinagar of Dammaiguda area of the city, was brought to the hospital on March 6, 2019, after she failed to recover at a private hospital. The 24 year old woman, a native of Turkaguda from Ibrahimpatnam mandal of Ranga Reddy district was brought to the hospital from the city based Omni private hospital on March 1, 2019, for treatment after her health condition worsened. According to the details revealed by the superintendent of the hospital , Dr. Shravan Kumar, the two victims were given treatment by keeping them in the isolation ward of the hospital meant for the swine flu patients. However, they could not be saved by doctors of the hospital despite making the best possible efforts to save their lives.
The superintendent told this correspondent that they were providing treatment to four more swine flu suspects at the hospital. He revealed that they have registered 59 swine flu postive cases so far since the beginning of the year. He added that of the total swine flu positive patients, 14 have lost their lives so far.
