Fruitful meeting between Mamata and doctors

 DTMT Network
The meeting between the West Bengal Chief Minister and the agitating doctors in the Secretariat in Kolkata seems to be going well with the Chief Minister agreeing with the demands of the doctors.

The result is that the doctors' meeting with the Chief Minister may well produce a system for security for doctors better than anywhere else in the country and may well become the model to follow.

Mamata Banerjee has issued directions to the police to appoint nodal police officers for every hospital.

She has suggested that Public Relations personnel should deal with people in hospitals, and not doctors.

She has also suggested reinforced gates in emergencies of hospitals and that only two attendants per patient should be allowed in.

She has asked doctors to set up grievance redressal cells in hospitals.

In case a doctor dies in an assault, she favours a job for a member of the doctors' family. She has also sought night time vigils in hospitals.

The doctors want exemplary punishment for those attacked the doctors in Kolkata, which sparked this crisis. The meeting is still ongoing.
