Choubey finds dengue larvae in senior official's premises

 BS RAWAT
NEW DELHI : On Wednesday, Union Health officials fought a grim battle to stem deadly aedis aegypti mosquito breeding and its spread across the Capital and the National Capital Region (NCR), not sparing even the VIP areas.

For instance, when the Union Minister of State for Health Ashwini Kumar Choubey came knocking on a senior official’s residence in Sarojini Nagar area, he was surprised to find heavy breeding of the deadly mosquito, the dengue carrier, on the premises.

The finding came when the minister was conducting a Pad Yatra to launch a door-to-door campaign in NDMC area against Dengue and Chikungunya.

Mr Choubey also found dengue larvae at other government officials' premises, including a VIP from Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), besides officials at Udyog Bhavan and Nirman Bhavan in New Delhi.

The 3-day campaign was in view of incidence of Chikungunya over the past two years in the city and surrounding areas.

The Minister stated, “It is no wonder that tough action is being taken, in some cases even against senior officials.”
