NEW DELHI: Elderly people visiting Safdarjung Hospital, Delhi, for medical help won't have to move from one department to another anymore. They can now go to the new geriatric OPD, which will have facility of medicine, general surgery, ENT, ophthalmology and orthopedics departments.

The geriatric OPD at the hospital, to be open every Sunday for elderly people, will be inaugurated by Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on Saturday.

The OPD timings will be from 9.30 to 12.30 in the day time and registration will be from 9 am to 11.30 am. Patients would be asked to come on the day of the OPD of respective unit for follow up visits, said Medical Superintendent Dr Sunil Gupta.

Dr Gupta stated, “The dispensary will be issuing medicines from 9.30 am to 1 pm. The required laboratory and radiological investigations will be done through emergency services of New Emergency Block as already being done for emergency patients and other routine investigations will be done on working days.”

The MS informed DTMT that the Union Health Minister would also inaugurate various other facilities including cath lab of Cardiology Department, lithotripsy machine in Urology Department, newly installed Discovery 750 w 3 T MRI machine in Radiology Department and Wipro GE Healthcare services.
