Delhi-AIIMS Resident Doctors Association (RDA) has sought Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan’s immediate intervention in the case of assault on doctors in the Institute of Medical Sciences of Banaras Hindu University, UP.

The RDA has demanded urgent action and arrest of culprits who attacked doctors when they were taking rounds to see patients in special wards on November 3, 2019. The RDA has supported the doctors of BHU who have been on strike since November 5, 2019.

The RDA has urged Dr Vardhan to bring a strict law against such violence to protect the life of doctors.

The RDA, in a letter Dr Vardhan, has stated that it believes in zero tolerance policy towards violence against resident doctors. “The assault on doctors in BHU is the result of poor performance of police and security officers. We have been forced to bring this matter to your notice, in view of the callous attitude of local state administration,” reads the letter signed by RDA president Dr Amarinder Singh Malhi.
